FreeMotionShop is a small company in Canada that sells Personal Electric Vehicles (PEVs) in Canada and the US. Their products allow people to move easily from place to place with minimal effort. They sell nothing even remotely applicable to fitness.

FreeMotionFitness is a large company owned by ICON Health & Fitness. This is a global health and fitness company and owner of iFIT, NordicTrack, ProForm, Freemotion, and other fitness brands. Based in Logan, Utah.

Freemotion Fitness has sued FreeMotion shop in Canada for the use of the name FreeMotion. Even though copyright law states there needs to be some possibility of confusion between the products of the company,

ICON is trying to use the expense of the US legal system to force FreeMotion shop to change its name. This is shameful. There is no possibility of confusion between the products of the two companies. No customer looking to purchase a treadmill or elliptical is going to purchase an electric scooter or unicycle instead because they accidentally went to the wrong website.

FreeMotionShop has made many overtures to ICON including offering to post a note on its website directing customers who might have found them rather than FreeMotionFitness directing those customers to the correct website.

Send ICON Health & Fitness a letter so they know that legal system abuse is not the correct way to do business. Just because Goliath has a lot of lawyers is no reason to bully a small company that has been doing business under this name for years.

Let ICON Health & Fitness know this is no way to do business.
