The brutal and repressive government of Yoweri Museveni has detained Ms Annet Namwanga, a Ugandan opposition politician, who has distinguished herself as a pro-democracy campaigner. The Ugandan army abducted Annet and kept her incommunicado for several weeks. As a result of an intensive local campaign by opposition politicians and human rights groups, the army was forced to hand over Annet Namwanga to the Ugandan police, who was are now accusing her of being an anti-government rebel.
