Oumou Kane is a Mandela Washington Fellow from Mauritania. She is currently in Jail because she organized and led a protest march against bad governance in her country. Most Young People will prefer to cocoon themselves in social media and make all the noise to no effect. Here is a Street Soldier, a heroine and a daughter of Africa on a quest to rid her country of corruption and bad governance. We the Youths of Africa demand that she and her comrades be released immediately and unconditionally. The Government of Mauritania should listen to the voice of reason and act accordingly.

The freedom of assembly and peaceful association is a fundamental human right. The government of Mauritania should listen to the voice of young people rather than put them behind bars.
Oumou Kane must be released bcause what she has done is not just for her, not for her son or family it is just for all her people . She just want her people to live in a world where everybody can find his place and can live better life. Please release the African iron lady,
We call for the speedy release of our dear champion for democracy. Oumou is a very sociable, fighter and dedicated mother. The uncalled for arrests goes against all the good foundations we are building for our African democracies...we pray for peace and proper adherence to the rule of law. I hope this helps.
I have known this lady for 2 years. her work has always been geared towards accountability, good governance and the betterment of the people of Mauritania. She shouldnt be treated this way and should be released at once.
If you the Mauritanian government feel like not being guilty then they should release Oumou. But if the government think she has been saying the truth about corruption in Mauritania , then they should think of changing their governance strategy rather than violating rules of democracy which includes freedom of expression

Oumou kane is my cousin. a young activist and civilian standing up for the rights of the young mauritanian generation. She hasn't don't anything wrong, she just marched to make her voice heard and the youngsters as well. Please sign the petition and let's free oumou
