Please consider signing this petition to express your support for an off leash area for dog to play at the University of Southern California University Village. We hope to secure signage to inform everyone of the off leash rule and secure specific times for dog off leash play.

It sucks having to drive so far just to let my dog run for twenty mins. Seems like the village has plenty of room for us to use if they just let us.

My golden retriever really needs somewhere to run after class. Keeping him on a leash all day is just not fair to him when there is all this space right here.

Need a safe space in the South Central neighborhood for USC students to play with their pups. I had my family's dog with me for a few weeks last summer and would have to drive him to West LA to get a couple of hours of playtime in. Would have been great if we could have played at the Village!

This means something to me not only so USC students with dogs can enjoy the campus too, but I’ve also observed a growing community of non-dog-owning students who come for the dogs. The dog owners always take amazing care of the park, and the presence of the dogs brings joy to everyone involved

This is the only place with grass for miles. Our dogs love this place. We all take great care of the park as we know it is something to be cherished. It helps our minds as well as our bodies. And our dogs need this grass place to run free.

Having an official area or even just a time frame for off leash activity would establish the dog community at USC in a more permanent way that would benefit both usc people and the non-usc people in the area. The dog “park” group has been perhaps the most diverse group I found at USC, where I met grad students, undergrads, and so many University Park/Ktown/West Adams/etc community members who just lived close by and have playful dogs. The genuine interaction with those outside of the USC bubble while technically at USC is what made it one of my favorite social groups I was part of. If USC actually wants to serve the community and foster the connection between the establishment and those surrounding it, between the students and (more importantly) the actual permanent residents of the area, making an official off leash space for dogs is a mostly self sustaining way to get there. The community already exists, we just need the official space!
