The SFMTA board formally approved the student transit pass program this morning. We have secured the policy change to allow college IDs to serve as valid fare media. I am now finalizing the implementation timeline with district transit officials to ensure a smooth transition for the upcoming semester.

Again: sign this petition if you agree that college students of San Francisco should NOT have to pay for the muni. "Muni transportation" would NOT be included in any college student's tuition. A college ID would be our "free pass".

$60+ and possibly still increasing for a monthly fastpass is such a burden on top of the already high cost of education. Even if this alternative cost slightly less than a months worth of daily transfers its still a significant amount for an unemployed student. At least try to give us a discount if not free transportation. It would help tremendously towards students finance situations.
Its a hassle having to pay muni all the time. Muni transfer are already increasing its fee and making it harder for every student. We are trying to be successful as much as we can and by not paying a transfer is drag especially when muni officers are purposely at our school trying give us tickets. Like give us a brake we are already trying to pay off school!!!!
Great idea. I support this 100%. San Jose State students get to ride the VTA for free, so why shouldn't we able to ride muni for free?
As a currently unemployed, full time student with no car, a college ID as MUNI pass would make a tremendous difference in my ability to afford commuting to apply for various jobs/internships, grabbing groceries, volunteering at local organizations and the like. Muni fares are one of the leading interferences in my strive to be the most productive member I can be in San Francisco.
VTA has an agreement with SJSU and De Anza College. Every semester/quarter, enrolled students get a sticker with an expiration date (a few weeks to a month after each term) to put on their student ID card.
College students all over SF should be afforded this.

As a SFSU student, I totally support this protest. I had to work 2-3 jobs to able to pay my tuition and my transportation fees. If this protest pass, I have a bit less worry about transportation fees and more focus on my school work.
