School buses to and from Macleans College should be free. Funded by government or the Auckland council. School bus fares are costly and can cost up to $800 per student and during a time of high cost of living, this is not affordable to families.
The Policy we aim to influence is AT (Auckland Transports) policy that ‘every rider must pay’ for school buses to and from Macleans College. We have chosen this policy as we believe free school buses should be a given opportunity for all students as then it would take away both financial and mental strains on individuals and families. Macleans families with students catching school buses would save almost $800 a year on transportation, that could be spent elsewhere on necessities such as food or on further education. This would have a positive return on investment as students would be faced with increased grades, and with free buses, a potential increase in school attendance as they do not have to walk to school in the rain and become sick.

Living in Bucklands Beach and paying for two kids transport is killing our budget. Costs are out of control.
800 dollars is a lot for most families these days. Fix this please.
My daughter is always stressed about bus fare. This should be covered by local council for all students.
I spent $6-$8 a day that's almost $80 a week! Sometimes I could not afford this as a student and would end up late. Thus affecting my education.
As a student who takes the bus quite frequently I think this is a very good social action, as many kids who are disadvantaged due to financial needs, require the support from school and therefore school buses should be free
