As of the first of October the University plans to introduce a £1 (each way, so £2 a return) charge for the inter-campus bus service for all staff and students. So a brief breakdown, 4 lectures a week: £8 a week. £32 a month! This is too much! This cost is horrific as many first year students do not have the option of which campus they would choose live at, as well as others who have arranged their accommodation on the assumption there was a free bus servies. Hundreds of students rely on the bus service to commute between campuses. This is well the ever increasing cost of tuition. I urge all students and staff to support our campaign by signing this petition, which will be sent to the University, as a demand that this unfair charge will be dropped.

I have been hearing from so many students who are already picking up extra shifts just to cover the cost of getting to class. This bus charge is pushing people past their breaking point and I am currently gathering these stories to present to the university administration.

Seeing this level of support makes me feel less alone in the frustration over these unfair bus fares. We are gaining real momentum and the university is going to have to listen to us eventually.

Totally unfair to start this mid year. People have already signed their housing contracts. Rethink this.

I chose my accommodation specifically because the bus was free. This is basically a hidden tax on us.

£32 a month is a lot of money when you're already struggling with rent and food. stop being greedy uni!!
