For a long time a picture has been painted for myself as one that has a personal vengeance for Ms. Theresa Manuel, President of the Forest Park High School PTSA. This has been one that has been illustrated by Ms. Manuel to many members of staff and parents of Forest Park High School. For the past seven months (August-February), Ms. LaWanda Anthony, Ms. Tammy Brewster and myself have attempted to make improvements in performance as a team, without the proper leadership from Ms. Manuel. We have had only two- three general meetings this year and Ms. Manuel although she had expressed early on in the year that she would resign has not done so. Our progress has been impeded as we have respectfully attempted to work with Ms. Manuel to no avail. Events that have been planned in the past school year were done and initiated without her help, but a graceful appearance when credit was yielded, she did oblige. The frustration has been overwhelming and has cost the Forest Park PTSA a considerable loss of time, allegiance from current and prospective members all due to the local efforts to retain her presidency. In a previous attempt to follow through with the bylaws our local regional office stated that there is no "proof" that we do not have membership due to her leadership or that we do not have an active PTSA. I as a paid member and officer have been more than frustrated, as their is a respect due to the office of President for Forest Park that is inherited. However, the show of respect has lead to a fourth year of nonproduction. We have had nothing for four years with the same president, however, we are at fault as we have allowed relection and not exercised our voting priviledges. The students, faculty and staff of Forest Park deserve more than a plea to join PTSA! Advice has been given to the Executive Board to allow the remaining months to continue under the current leadership with a silent voice. As a member you have the right to accept or not accept this piece advice. A special meeting can be demanded with your vote. Are you willing to do the right thing and start making a move toward progress? Why let time pass by when we have time to set a foundation in place that will provide for action in the coming year!
