Modification to the Intersection at Castro Valley Blvd. and Forest Ave.

We hereby request the removal of the concrete island in the middle of the intersection between Castro Valley Blvd. and Forest Ave. to allow drivers to turn left on Castro Valley Blvd. or go straight to Norbridge Ave.

Forest residents cannot turn left on CV Blvd or go straight to Norbridge Ave. We have to go around the Blvd. and make a U turn close to the CVS Pharmacy. Or if coming back on Northbridge Ave, the U turn will be at Rite Aid Store.

After observing the traffic every day, there are more drivers coming from Forest Ave and making a U turn on Yeandle Ave (near CVS) to be able to make a right turn on Norbridge Ave. ( just on the other side of Forest Ave.). The reason on why people do that is because they are trying to avoid having to go straight until Redwood Rd, and then having to make a left turn. Usually in the mornings, if we take the Redwood Rd route. If we hit the five stoplights, it will add around 5-7 minutes to our commute time versus going straight on Norbridge Ave and only hit 2 traffic lights. Also, many people dislike having to make a U turn just to go around it.

And not only that, we are seeing an increase of traffic on Castro Valley Blvd. of people wanting to take a left turn on Redwood Rd.

It has been observed that some people even force to take a left turn on Castro Valley Blvd. coming from Forest. Not just doing a traffic violation but making the intersection dangerous.

For all these reasons we consider will be more efficient to remove the concrete island and let the residents from Forest Avenue to make a left turn or go straight as usually all intersections in Castro valley Blvd. are like that.

We understand that by removing the concrete island may cause an increase in traffic in the street, but currently there is already traffic.
