Tesco have finally announced that they will not be building a new store in Dartford more than a decade after they acquired the land, forced local business to close or relocate and left Dartford looking like a ghost town.

By signing this petition, you declare that you find the actions of Tesco utterly disgraceful and that you believe they should be forced to sell the land they own in Dartford at auction in a stance against their disgusting actions.

The persistent silence from company leadership regarding this vacant property confirms that our collective pressure is necessary. I am currently preparing formal correspondence to local planning authorities to ensure they understand the scale of frustration felt by this community.

Tesco - you have held a huge chunk of land in Dartford with the promise of investment. During this time we have had to watch the town slowly die. Please now do the right thing and sell the land so our town can be rebuilt.

Tesco have blighted Dartford for 10+ years. The management should be ashamed of their bullying tactics. The Lowfield Street should be developed for affordable housing with gardens not more apartments.Play areas for children also important. Dartford doesn't need more shops we have too many empty units now.

I think DBC should purchase the land and build much needed houses and flats, The council are always complaining there is not enough council accomidation.... NOW is there chance to invest in local people....

Tesco should sell the land they have procured but they must do so in a way that is acceptable to the residence and the remaining businesses of Dartford. The people of Dartford should have a major say in how and to whom to this land is sold (e.g not property speculators). This would be considered to be at least a sign of some contrition by Tesco.

Tesco should not be allowed to sit on the land whilst they try and make a profit on it. Governments should not allow land banking and having held the town in limbo for 12 years they should now move on quickly.

Your treatment of the Residents of Dartford has been utterly disgraceful. We Residents are also prospective customers, and I will certainly not be shopping with you in the future. You might as well close the 3 Tesco Express stores in the area as well as Tesco you are NOT welcome in our town.
