We, the undersigned, represent a group of active members in the Santa Clara University Theatre Community who feel it necessary for the classes of 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 to be given the opportunity to perform in/work on/ experience a Shakespearean Play during the 2013-2014 school year. The Canon of William Shakespeare presents itself as a part of our curriculum as majors, as a part of the Justice in the Arts Pathway, and in our modern language through colloquial phrases and timeless allusions to these great works. Therefore a case truly need not be made for the validity of the assertion that Shakespeare should be performed on our campus. The works speak for themselves. Thus, we let this petition speak for ourselves and sign our names in a collective effort to sway the coming decision of the 2013-2014 SCU Theatre Season.
