Chestnut Street in Clarksburg is in desperate need of major repairs. Our children and loved ones travel this road on a daily basis and we need help now to keep them safe. The many holes, broken patches, and sections that are caved in, are a threat to the safety of anyone who travels this road.
Clarksburg City Officials, WV DOH, Senator Manchin’s office and Senator Capito’s office, as well as both local news affiliates have been contacted in an attempt to bring awareness to this dangerous situation. But still, no improvements have been made.
Please help the citizens of Clarksburg to be heard in getting a solution to the decade-long struggle for safety. We deserve better, and with a collaborative effort we can accomplish anything!

This road is the most treacherous in Clarksburg. It had been for 30+ years. Everyday my children take this road to school and they are terrified due to the facts 1) it is a very narrow road in which larger vehicles (coal trucks, water trucks, etc) travel forcing school bus drivers onto unsafe and unstable sidewalks due to the horrific potholes on the road. 2) Once again the road has been in disrepair for 30+ years instead of building an amphitheatre or an old dilapidated theatre shouldn't the safety and well-being of the citizens be of more concern
I lived in Chestnut Hills for many years, and have driven up and down Chestnut Street hundreds of times throughout thr years. My most recent trip to WV, I have never seen the roads in worse condition. The people of this area deserve better, Clarksburg deserves better, and my immediate family deserves better. (Kramer Drive). I travel this road several times a week when I pick up my granddaughter. I lived in that area for over 10 years and this is the worst condition this road has ever been in. We recently had to have our car aligned and the road will probably cause us to have to have another one sooner than should be. I can't believe you allow school busses to travel on this road with children riding inside. It is a very sad situation which needs corrected immediately.
This street does have terrible potholes.. but the street leading to Bassel Addition is caving in. It is only a one way road. And the school bus drivers have contacted the parents. The bus drivers cannot take the children on this road. Please look into how to fix that road.
Chestnut street is one of the reasons I don't go downtown too often. It's the shortest route for me, but not worth my life nor the damage to my car.

With all the road work going on around the town we have yet to see any being done on chestnut street. The road is getting so bad that when you hit a hole it sends you in to the other lane.
