Help us fix the water fountain in the Bennett Park Playground! The fountain overflows, causing a messy, hazardous puddle I call Lake Bennett in the middle of the path to the subway. The fountain overflows because it is not connected to a waste drain! Eventually this situation will necessitate a very expensive rebuild of the path.

In New York it was not uncommon for water fountains not to have a plumbed drain. This situation is called a dry well, which is basically a hole for the water. Over time, this hole gets filled up, filled in with dirt, and stops functioning. When the bath houses were built the situation was not remedied. So there is a waste pipe located nearby, and it's a simple fix to hook up the water fountain to this system. However the Parks Department told me this is a Capital Expenditure and as such needs to be included in a future budget.

Now is the time to let our voices be heard, and save a much more expensive fix in the future! Thank you for signing the petition, and we won't stop until the water fountain is fixed!!
