The school board just confirmed that our children will finally have the freedom to move and play during their daily breaks. I am incredibly relieved that my daughter and her classmates will have a chance to just be kids again because of your support.
We would like to see a true recess at the Fairhope Intermediate School.
A recess where kids can use their break as a time of mental rest, physical activity, social interaction, snack and freedom within standard guidelines.
The idea of zero movement and extreme limited interaction before school and during recess is creating ill will towards the school and is detrimental to the academic, social, and physical well being of the children.
Recess of this nature is not practiced at any other Fairhope schools or private schools in this community.
If you would like this policy changed at the Intermediate School then please add your name and pass this petition on to others.
Watching the signature count climb reminds me of the afternoons my own kids come home drained because they were denied the chance to simply run and play. We need to keep this momentum going right now so the administration sees we are serious about restoring real recess at Fairhope Intermediate. Please send this link to a few local parents who care about our children having a healthy school day.

I have been hearing from so many of you who are watching your children lose their spark because of these restrictive rules. I am currently organizing these stories so we can present a clear picture of the frustration growing in our community to the administration.

Kids are meant to run around and be kids. Sitting still all day is just not right for a growing child.

My son comes home so stressed out because he doesnt get to burn off any energy during the day. This needs to change immediately.

WHY are we punishing them for being children? Fairhope schools should be better than this.

They need this break to actually focus in class later. It makes no sense to take it away.
