Students need more recess, and this is a local solution for that problem. This is a petition to add 14 more minutes of recess to the combined lunch and recess period in the Central Middle School of Greenwich, CT in an effort to give children more exercise every day. This will be done by taking away two minutes from each of the seven periods of the day. It is important for every student to get enough recess daily, because without it students pay far less attention in school, have more trouble socializing and picking up social cues, are more fidgety, are more likely to contract many negative health ailments, and are less likely to exercise daily. The administration has acknowledged the petition and we are currently finalizing a meeting time with the school district leadership. I am drafting a formal proposal that outlines the logistics of reallocating two minutes from each class period to expand our daily recess window.

I am highly in agreement that some of us need extra time for lunch and/or recess.
I completely agree. The children at Central middle school have only about 10 minutes break from their hard work a day. They deseverve and need a proper break to rejeuvinate the mind and body. I believe in this petition! Coreen Serfilippi
I'm all for this. I don't think once a kid enters sixth grade the need for exercise ceases to be necessary.
Harry I truly believe that this will benefit the way children learn as It Is finally getting nice out. So I think more kids are willing to go outside and get more exercise.
We don't even have around ten exact minutes the most time they give us is around 7-8 minutes and it's just not fair anymore like if we don't have PE than we must do at least some sort of physical activity/action, in order to keep us healthy, because all we do is sit around in class and it's just not fair as I said before

I think this is very smart and will and should help students focus more in class and get more excercise.
