I feel compelled to share my deep disappointment and outrage regarding a school system that not only condones but actively perpetuates racism, sexism, and ableism while demonstrating a disturbing lack of accountability when it comes to handling cases of sexual assault. Hillary Brochu has been Assistant Principal since 2021 at Maple Hill High School since 2021 and has been involved with most if not all issues in these next paragraphs.

From my past experience within this school, I have witnessed firsthand the distressing realities faced by marginalized students. The administration's lack of handling foster an environment that is inherently unjust and oppressive. Racial biases are allowed to run rampant, undermining the educational experience for students of color and perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

Furthermore, the deeply invasive monitoring of students is appalling. The school fails to provide an environment for boys and girls, where they can feel safe, respected, and empowered. Systemic barriers in the administration method of monitoring prevent both female and male students from full privacy within locker rooms and bathrooms. Along with the locking of the bathrooms (with no reason), disregarding kids with medical issues and state mandated accommodations. The school's refusal to address and rectify these issues demonstrates a blatant disregard for student rights.

Equally disheartening is the ableism that permeates the school's ethos. Students with disabilities are often neglected and denied the necessary accommodations to thrive academically and socially. The lack of accessibility measures and support further marginalize these individuals, preventing them from reaching their full potential and contributing meaningfully to the community. Along with the persistent bullying of these students, where no action is ever taken.

Perhaps the most egregious failing of Maple Hill High School is the handling of sexual assault cases. Instead of creating a safe space for survivors, the school turns a blind eye to their trauma and actively minimizes the severity of these heinous acts. The lack of appropriate punishment for perpetrators coupled with the unprofessional attitude towards victims sends a dangerous message that such behavior will go unpunished, perpetuating a culture of silence and impunity.

I must vehemently discourage anyone from engaging with this school system. Its racist, ableist, and violating practices, coupled with its disgusting mishandling of sexual assault cases, make it a deeply flawed and morally bankrupt school. Students deserve an environment that fosters inclusivity, respect, and safety, and this school fails to meet even the most basic standards of justice and compassion.

I really thought this might just disappear into the void but looking at how many people have joined in shows me that I am definitely not the only one who sees exactly what is happening at Maple Hill. My head is honestly spinning because it feels like people are finally starting to listen and pay attention to these stories that have been ignored for way too long.

I'm a student at this school and I was almost bullied out of the school by Mrs. Brochu. I was being disciplined for lying about being late to class and she brought up my CPS case involving molestation from when I was very young. She went on to make back-handed comments insinuating that every teacher not only knew about my (supposedly) private CPS cases, but that they all also believed I was lying. I did find this to be false after speaking to a trusted teacher, so Mrs. Brochu had just made me feel so ashamed of my assault for no reason.

she needs to go through training again or quit working with children. im shocked that she was able to get a job as an assistant principal considering she speaks w/ the maturity of a bratty teenager.

had first hand experience with the assistant principals internalized misogyny. belittling comments were made instead of providing an opportunity to educate. priorities need to be set straight

This school is so full of hatred and Brochu's nasty comments and looks add to it. This woman should not be working with kids and it's obvious how bad her attitude changes towards different children. You think she would have some compassion for the young girls but she doesn't at all!

Discriminatory school. I seen it myself when I used to go here and I'm glad others are noticing.
