The CN seeks to increase hazardous material cars rolling through our community from 21 to a minimum of 200 per year representing a 1000% increase. The chemicals they carry include chlorine, anhydrous ammonia, caustic soda, potassium cyanide and liquefied gas or propane. The odds that the community may substain a potentially catastrophic hazmat spill will increase exponentially with this plan. If a hazmat spill occurs in our community and poisionous chemicals absorbed into the wells that supply us with water, we would be evacuated and forced from our homes until a new water supply is implemented.
The potential for fatatlities in our community to occur will only increase.
Bartlett has just begun construction on a 3rd fire house to accommodate the development on the west side of the village of Bartlett and services parts of Elgin and Hoffman Estates. With this new plan for 28+ freight trains to run through our community, the emergency vehicles would not be able to make there way to the elementary school or homes.
Also, the depreciation in our home values, many families greatest investment.
I ask you...what is your families safety and well being worth We\'re trying to provide the safest environment for all communities involved.

We, the undersigned, oppose the sale of the EJ & J railway to CN. There is no benefit to any of the communities involved.
CN thinks they can push this toxic burden onto our town without any pushback. I am meeting with local officials to demand they quit ignoring our safety and start putting the residents before corporate greed.

Are you kidding me? 200 cars of dangerous chemicals through our town? My kids go to school right by those tracks. This is insane.

Think about the traffic! My husband already gets stuck at the crossing for 20 mins every day. With 28 trains how are the sirens supposed to get through?
