We, the undersigned residents of the City of Sacramento, do hereby express our disapproval of any State Parks, Regional Transit, or City of Sacramento plans to operate or move trains through the Land Park and South Land Park communities within the City of Sacramento, as outlined in the draft general plan for excursion trains running from the Old Sacramento State Historic Park to Hood. We further request that State Parkscancel all plans and feasibility studies for "excursion train" operations that involve operating on the defunct railroad right-of-way between the Zoo and the Pocket/Meadowview area.We ask that State Parks removes the concept from the OSSHP general plan. We oppose train operations in our neighborhoods for the following 10 reasons: (1) introduction of noise and air pollution; (2) threats to the safety of small children around railroad tracks; (3) concerns over privacy; (4) increased traffic congestion; (5) disruption of community character and aesthetics; (6) lack of any historical relevance for operation of such a train; (7) costs associated with laying tracks, crossing arms, etc; (8) deforestation and disruption of the old railroadright-of-way, which has largely become a greenbelt; (9) threat to the health of nearby school children attending numerous city and private schools; and (10) incompatibility with Sacramento Executive Airport operations and safety guidelines.

The emails I receive from neighbors sharing their fears about the noise and safety risks are becoming impossible to ignore. I spend my evenings documenting these concerns to present to the city officials. It is draining to fight this fight when the plans remain in place but I am not walking away from this.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing this level of momentum proves we are not alone in this fight. I am tired of the constant meetings and the uphill battle against these city plans but your engagement keeps me pushing forward.

The impacts to quality of life, property values and neighborhood safety in South Land Park outweigh any perceived benefit we could get from such a scheme.

The train will create a lot of smoke and noise, which will be very unpleasant for South Land Park residents. Also, it just seems like a bad idea, since the passengers would mostly see the backs of fences.

What is the city thinking? This plan is a waste of money the city doesn't have. It is the worse thing that could happen to our neighborhood!!

This is not an acceptable plan and we do not want the trains running through the neighborhood.

With the trains comes the shackles to the community prohibiting residents to create a true green space, it furthers the loss of habitat to both mammals and particularly pollinators. The maintenance and creation of RR lines means increased herbicide and pesticide use. STOP the trains now.

My kids play right by those tracks almost every day. Bringing back a train is a massive safety hazard we dont need in our backyard.
