Angelo is a six year old boy with a heart disease and sever asthma. His mother worked in the banking field for fifteen years until Angelo became ill. Now it is her job to be "on call" for Angelo and to stay as close to him as possible while allowing him to live a normal life. It is imperative that Angelo be as close to her as possible. Rochester City School district does not allow children to go to a school that is closest to them, instead they are forced to go else where and placed in a lottery system if a opening opens up at the school of the PARENTS choice. Why are children not allowed to go the school that is closest to them? This doesn't make since! Angelo lives right across the street from school #42 he would be close to his mother. His mother also obtained his disability papers and a doctors note stating that he needs to be close to his mother. That still is not enough we need to change this lottery system and let children be allowed to go to the school that is closest to their home. Please help fight for little Angelo and other children and their families who are dealing with this same issue.
