Eagles, Your Student Government is doing this petition to ensure that library hours are never cut this dramatically again. When the state budget was created, a 300 million dollar cut to higher education was instilled. This hurt Florida Gulf Coast University terribly. The University was forced to find places to cut the deficit. Unfortunately, employees lost their jobs and the library hours were cut. SG is doing this campaign to show the state that these cuts are not acceptable. Once we reach 3,000 signatures, we will send this to Governor Scott and Legislators to show them that it is unacceptable. We will also put a bill through Student Government to cover the hours that were lost. We will not let your academic opportunities be in jeopardy.
