Dear Mr. McBride and the Board of Supervisors of Upper Merion Township: We, the undersigned, all residents of Upper Merion Township, some also being members of Temple Brith Achim, respectfully request you take whatever steps necessary to approve the operation of a Farm Stand on a corner of the Temple Brith Achim property from July 4th, 2011 through November 18th, 2011. This Farm Stand will provide an opportunity for all residents of Upper Merion Township, as well as anyone passing through or visiting our Township, to have regular access to sustainable, locally grown produce, thereby supporting local farmers as well as local sustainable agriculture, and boosting the local economy. All produce sold at the Farm Stand will have been freshly picked  – no refrigeration will be needed. As the Upper Merion Farmers Market currently operates only on the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat), and specifically during the exact hours of our weekly Sabbath Morning Worship Service, not all of our members are able and/or willing to visit it. A Farm Stand on the Temple Brith Achim property would make sustainable, locally grown produce readily available during the rest of the week, thereby enabling anyone who is unable to visit the Upper Merion Farmers’ Market, for whatever reason, to have that access every single day. Temple Brith Achim is an established, responsible member of the Upper Merion Township community, and we urge you to see that the approval process to allow this Farm Stand to operate, not be delayed any further. The Farm Stand will be managed and operated 100% by the local farmer responsible for the goods to be sold. Thank you for considering this request and thank you, in advance, for allowing Temple Brith Achim to host a Farm Stand that will serve to benefit the Township and its residents in many ways.
