This is a citizen petition to Taos News' editor John Miller to include a Farm section in the newspaper, covering farm issues (akin to a Sports section or any other regular section).

There's so many new farms and no shortage of farm news to cover. Recent Taos News articles on local producers have been top-notch.

To pay Farm section staff, Taos News can raise its cover price to $2. It has been $1.50 for nearly a decade despite the National Newspaper Association consistently recognizing Taos News as the Best Weekly Newspaper in the USA, which would more than justify the slight increase.

To our Taos County residents, and other supporters all over the globe, thank you for signing and supporting local farms and farm journalism.

You can further support the cause by sending your letter to [email protected] on the Farm section, an idea whose time has come.

The silence from the editorial office remains heavy but I am continuing to reach out for a direct conversation. It is exhausting to keep pushing when there is no response yet I know the local agricultural news we are missing is worth the effort.

Reaching this level of visibility takes a toll, but seeing this many people recognize the need for dedicated farm coverage keeps me going. The momentum is undeniable now and it pushes me to keep pushing John Miller for that section.

We need to be able to feed ourselves. Taos used to be known as a breadbasket of the Southwest in the 1920s because of all the wheat that was grown here.We can't keep turning productive or fallow farmland into housing lots

This would be a great way to honor and emphasize a huge aspect of what our community has historically been about and also where many innovations and economic drivers are and can be.
