The province finally recognized that quality child care requires equal support for every program regardless of their business model. After all this time fighting for my colleagues and the families we serve, I am overwhelmed to say that we have won. We will be keeping a close eye on the …
We, the undersigned, want ALL child care programs in the Province of Nova Scotia to be treated with fairness by the government of Nova Scotia - in that: all government funding be equally delivered to these programs, regardless of auspice (private (commercial) / non-profit) for grants, child care subsidies, wage supplements, provision of inclusion for children, program enhancement, energy usage, playground spaces, repair and renovation etc. As all programs must follow and adhere to the same government regulations so shall all government funding to child care programs be equitable. All programs must have similarly trained staff, equipment, developmentally appropriate programs, safe and clean environments for children so shall all government funding be equitable.
Seeing one hundred people put their names behind this hits home because I know how hard these operators work to keep their doors open. This is a small group for now but it proves that others see the same unfairness I experience daily.

My own child attends one of these centers and sees firsthand how funding gaps hurt our daily routines. We need to reach our first hundred supporters today to show the government that families are watching. Please send the link to your neighbors so we can show them how many people care about this.

THEY ALL DO THE SAME JOB. Why is one treated better than the other? Fix this now.

My wife runs a small center and does just as much work as the big non-profits but gets half the support. It is not right.

it makes no sense to punish the private centers. they follow the same rules as the non profits so the funding should be the same. my kids daycare works so hard and they deserve better.

Equal rules meant equal money. The government needs to wake up and start supporting all these providers.
