I performed an experiment on Ba.com and virgin-atlantic.com for London to Lagos return flights leaving London 1st July and returning 10th September - GBP 484. Reversing the order so that it is Lagos to London, London to Lagos and the price becomes $1,598.42 which is GBP 1,104.54. On Virgin Atlantic it is GBP 505.45 starting in London and starting in Lagos goes to $3,322 which is GBP 2,295.50. Same distance, same planes. Why are these airlines fleecing us?
I conducted the same experiment using London to Johannesburg which is actually double the flight time:
BA, London Johannesburg starting in London costs GBP 719.85, starting in Johannesburg costs 15,359.23 ZAR which is GBP 693.4694
Virgin Atlantic, London Johannesburg starting in London costs GBP 699.85, starting in Johannesburg costs ZAR 14,089.23 which is GBP 636.4139
All flights were economy and conversion was done using current rate at xe.com

I just spent the entire morning looking back at the price discrepancies and it honestly makes my blood boil all over again. Someone sent me a message about how they have been skipping family trips for years because of these costs and it really confirms why this needs to stay on the radar.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it is wild to see people actually talking about these flight prices. It just makes me wonder how long they thought they could get away with such blatant price gouging before people finally started looking at the numbers.

Most airlines have always taken advantage of our "no regulations policies" I forfeited premium Membership for Emirates that take double the time but 10 times the service and comfort.
Having to deal with BA's incompetent and predujiced flight crew at such extortionate rates is like being violated twice! Regulation is definitely needed on both service levels and fares! You are right, about time we spoke and voted with our wallets as Easter and summer holidays are upon us.
Government should look into flight fare prices locally and internationally as i believe that we are been exploited. There should be control measures set in place. We say no to unreasonable flight fares!!

Enough to this cheating. Why would we be used to balance BA or VA books? We demand fair rates.
