In response to the increasing number of security alerts for IWU students before Titian Trasport hours, we are proposing to extend their hours from 10pm-2am to 8PM-2AM. #Safety4Students
I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this request. It is clearly all of you who saw this need and decided to speak up about it.

As a former Student Manager for TT, I'm fully supportive of the hours extension. It will better serve the community of Illinois Wesleyan by ensuring student safety as the days grow shorter.
Cheers.

The additional hours are clearly needed in light of recent activity. It has been getting dark around 7 lately, so while starting this service at 8 is good, I would say this is just a start. I also hate to break it to you, but it gets dark on Friday and Saturday as well, so this service should be extend to ALL days of the week.

Before this year, I have never felt unsafe walking around campus. No one should have to be afraid as they walk home from classes, especially with the lack of streetlights around campus. If Titan Transport extends its hours and advertises more so that people know that the resource exists, it would keep more students safe.

My daughter has orchestra rehearsal until 9pm on Wed. at Presser and is concerned about getting back to her dorm safely. She also has friends in orchestra that live in the houses near the park. It is dark at 7pm, starting security at 10pm is too late.

In light of recent events on campus, it's a logical step to extend hours of Titan Transport so that IWU students have a safe and reliable way to get to and from campus and their homes without fear of getting robbed or held up. This is definitely a start in the right direction.

My brother was robbed at gubpoint this past weekend walking just off campus at 8 pm. I will do anything to help make it safe for students and hopefully make sure what happened to my brother doesn't happen again.
