Exams period should make allowances for 3rd year in terms of online/open book formats
This 2020-23 cohort have no experience of this exam format, and this transition will be extremely difficult at a time when the exams are weighted much more highly than previous years.
Before covid, cohorts had years 1 and 2 to practice this exam format, when the stakes were much lower.
Lecturers and students alike have shared their views on this change causing great disruption to the module structures and techniques we are used to.
We feel it is unfair to make the 3rd year students change to this very different format at a time that matters so much, and request that the exams be reverted to the previous format for our year’s cohort, or at least that allowances can be made in terms of making the exams open book or the ability to be typed.

This year is really important for us as it is 60% of our whole grade and it’s u fair that the uni is forcing us to take face to face exams even though our 1st 2 years were online and we have no idea of how uni exams are face to face and closed book
Open book exams show more understanding than closed book exams which are just memorisation
We haven’t done an in persons examination since three years ago. Doing it now during the last year that counts 60% of the final grade is a huge penalisation, considering we’re not used to it. In addition, like in my case, anxiety is playing a huge role in not making myself enjoy my last year in London.
I will not be able to enter the UK in the January exam session as I will be away in Russia due to troubles related to conscription and the army. Therefore, it would be of a great help if the exams will be online, as I won’t be able to come back.
We as students have had open book/online exams since year 1. It is quite unfair for the university to change this. I believe that whoever started with having online exams/open book should continue and only new first year students should have closed book/ in person.

I am year 3 Finance student in Bayes Business School and I have not been doing offline exams since the end of school and very worried that switching to offline exams may negatively affect my final grade because year 3 is the most important year. Doing offline exams may negatively affect our careers. It would be great if the university could see the reason to make year 3 exams online for us.
