Newland Communities and CCMC finally caved and agreed to build the dog park exactly how we demanded. We forced their hand and won this fight for our neighborhood. Stay sharp because we need to make sure they actually follow through on every single detail.

Estrella residents have voiced interest in a new dog park in the Estrella community.

Residents: Would you like the park to include fitness equipment, trails, or anything else? This is the place to share your enthusiasm and ideas.

THANK YOU Newland Communities and CCMC for listening to our residents!

Updates

December 3, 2015

The corporate suits at Newland Communities are still dragging their feet while we wait for a real plan for the park. I am tired of the vague promises and empty feedback forms they keep sending out instead of breaking ground. Keep the pressure on them because they clearly think we will just get bored and walk away.

December 3, 2015

The sheer volume of demand for this park proves that Newland Communities and CCMC can no longer pretend we are indifferent. We have built undeniable momentum and they are finally being forced to pay attention to what this neighborhood actually needs.

Please let us have an off leash park, with separate areas for large and small dogs with as much shade as possible. I know for a fact there are at least 10 dogs in a 3 block radius of our house. This is a much needed addition, and if necessary I would be willing to pay an annual fee for some type of gated access.

At the last Board meeting Lisa Lundscow mentioned that Pickleball Courts were going to be installed in the new park. The courts at South Lake Park are just not enough for the amount of players we have already. So I look forward to the courts being added to this new park for the fastest growing sport in the U.S.,

Outdoor workout equipment area (or spread them out along the lake paths). More Pickleball courts. The dog park down the hill always looks dusty/dirty to me...if one goes in, would like to see preventative measures to keep it pleasant when you drive by.

Anything for older kids. A real swimming pool. It's awful that there are so many swim teams using the current old pool. We have parks for little kids currently. Maybe roller hockey, outdoor fitness equipment also would be nice.

Thumbs up for a dog park but feel it should be by the visitors center like Verrados to draw people in and gather outside with coffee on their patio. More sense of community. Or by the existing goodyear park by the hs. Nice central location.

Like the idea of two separate areas for dog park with water available. Also love the idea of paved walking trails as they are more inclusive for persons with disabilities. If there is going to be a playground rubberized asphalt would be preferable to sand as a ground cover under equipment, again for more inclusion for parents/children with disabilities.

YES for a dog park! Please include dog/people water fountains, lots of shaded areas and LOTS of area for dogs to run!
