Entergy is in the process of replacing all of the old electricity meters with new digital meters and customers are receiving excessive bills:

  • 12-day bills - $250 and up
  • Customers who are not living in their homes due to construction/repairs due to the hurricanes and the flood receiving bills $250 and up
  • Customers who have been living in the community for years receiving bills they have never had before
  • Some people have no meter and got a $200 bill. INSANE

Updates

August 6, 2021

I have been reviewing the accounts of residents who received significant charges despite having no active meters or vacant properties. These reports demonstrate a clear pattern of systemic failure that warrants a formal investigation by the utility commission.

The response to this petition has demonstrated that many residents are suffering under these unpredictable billing practices. This momentum confirms that our collective experience is not an isolated series of errors by the utility provider.

I have had 2 bills from Entergy. One for $1200, and one for $1600 while not living in the house. No use talking to entergy, sad Russ Manuel

Bill before meter change was 125.00 then after change 270.00 and next one 375.00. Not living in house and since May 17th. Turn AC off.

Entergy is charging out the wazoo for empty non occupied properties in the Lake Charles, Sulphur, Westlake, Moss Bluff & Iowa areas. It is just another mail in our coffins here. 2 hurricanes, direct hits at that, 6 weeks apart, an unprecedented ice storm & massive never experienced before flooding, estimated water & electric bills. Now this? We cannot take any more

In the past my highest regular bill in the summer months was $275, now I am on average billing and this months is $232 which means my normal bill is $370 and we haven't even hit August yet!

My electricity bill went from $66 to $155 to $197 and I am using less electricity because I have a freezer that is unplugged and I am using less appliances. This is the highest my bill has ever been.

My bill is around 140 -150 this time of the year last months bill was 212.31. However when my bill was around 140-150 there was 3 people living here. I've been the only one living here by myself for a year now. Explain that? I'll wait... Wil Thibodeaux
