petition: to hold the city of taneytown accountable for not promptly rectifying problems with the meters which they have known existed for up to 2 years and have failed to address the problem in a timely manner.
Action: we, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to render the petitioner's not liable for excess charges being imposed upon them because of the water department inaction.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum this is gathering because I never imagined so many people would join me in this fight. This is all thanks to the neighbors who decided that enough is enough. You have turned a personal frustration into something that the city simply cannot ignore.

There needs to be accountability! To have water /sewer bills double and triple in a given quarter is nonsense! I can share unfortunate situations happening to my clients. How can a town estimate bills for "sometime" and never disclose?!? The if bills double or triple...it's a water leak....even after 5 professionals verify no leaks!! Never have heard such nonsense!
I have seen our water bill go from 99. Per quarter to 399. Per quarter. Most certainly there is a huge problem. We have curbed our useage by timing showers to using paper plates, NO CHANGE in our bill. This is horrible.
so many are being told they must have a leak if their bill is high and yet no leaks are found - and still nothing is done. It is inexcusable to estimate a bill for years and then try to collect for underestimating. How can the City of Taneytown keep estimating a bill year after year and not notify the customer that something may be wrong with the meter?
Im not happy with water bill as they increased twice for only two housemembers. I called them. They ignored Deaf homeowner's complaints
There is no excuse for such high water bills, close to $600 a cycle for a family of 9 and we do not water lawns or wash cars or waste water at all. Barely affordable and the water is terrible.
I have been over charged on several occasions. When talking to the city they are very rude and have no intention in looking into the matter.
I've thought for the last year the water bill had been ridiculous and every time I called they said no it was accurate! I cut back on water usage in various ways and I feel like my bill hasn't changed! I hope this gets fixed soon!

I had my battery changed several months ago. Was told then that the bill was being estimated since the end of 2014. So I was expecting a bill, but not for $200. Now I'm reading that our bills were being estimated for up to 2 years. I bought this house 1 year ago, so why do I have to pay the full balance.
