WE THE UNDERSIGNED, are all residents of Englewood Cliffs. We strongly believe that it would be in the best interest of our Borough and its taxpayers to rescind the dismissal of Borough Administrator/Municipal Clerk Ilene Cohen and the Assistant Administrator/Deputy Clerk Lisette Duffy and to reinstate them to their previous positions. They have both shown themselves to be very proficient in their jobs and at no time has there been any criticism of their performance. Neither Ms. Cohen or Ms. Duffy were given any advance notice of their dismissal. Their positions and duties were non-political. They deserve to be treated with the same professionalism and respect that they have given the residents and Council. As it now stands, at the end of January, the Administrative staff of our Borough will be left without any experienced leadership. Our community needs a full time trained administrative staff that can answer and assist residents and the council with municipal services. Ms. Cohen and Ms. Duffy dependably execute these tasks for our Borough with professional experience, but also with invaluable knowledge gained from being a part of the community for many years, and knowing the residents, families, schools, organizations, and communities of employees and volunteers that make this town work. Ultimately, the dismissal of Ms. Cohen and Ms. Duffy by the Council majority can only be disruptive as well as very costly to all of our residents. We respectfully urge the Mayor and Council to reappoint Ms. Cohen and Ms Duffy at the earliest possible date.
