The Elite Scholars Academy of Clayton County is a new public school charter scheduled to open in July 2009. We are very happy to announce that the Clayton County Board of Education approved the Elite Scholars Academy during the May 2008 Board meeting. The next step is to forward the petition to the Georgia Department of Education. As we forward our petition forward, we know that it is very helpful to have a diverse support base. Therefore we are providing this peition as an opportunity to communicate to as many Clayton County parents and families as possible. Forums, one on one discussions, meetings with elected officials and with students have been conducted and will continue to be held. This petition is merely another means to engage and connect with the needs of Clayton County families. We are hoping to ascertain a mimimum of 300 signatures to submit to the Department of Education by July 15, 2008. So we ask that you help us spread the word to those who may be directly impacted by this initiative. We will open with grades 6-9 during the 2009/2010.
