This is an URGENT call to action. Ms. Nicholson, one of our Eliot Elementary 4th grade teachers, has been trimmed. This will result in two (instead of three) 4th grade classes with approximately 30 kids each.
This is UNACCEPTABLE and we must tell that to Tulsa Public Schools & our State Representatives. They will listen if we all use our voice.
If you think this does not affect you because you do not have a 4th grader, you are wrong! These children and teachers will be overwhelmed, which will be reflected in their test scores. Eliot's high test scores & low classroom sizes are some of the most attractive things to get good families at Eliot. Eliot is a family and one day it might be your child's class that needs us to rally for him or her.
Please take the time to sign the petition to show TPS & our State Representatives that Eliot Friends & Family want to keep our class sizes small and we should not lose one of our three 4th grade homeroom teachers.
We have been told by those that collect TPS complaints/concerns that they will count this petition in their complaints regarding this issue. If you would like, please also call 918-746-6287 and file a concern.

The child to teacher ratio regulated by the Department of Human services requires a 20 children to 1 teacher ratio in a school age child care setting. Trimming our teacher is not safe or healthy for our children, families, and teachers involved.
The main complaint I have EVER heard about Eliot is that it is a school that is quick to throw away young, progressive teachers. Sad, when there is such a shortage of fabulous teachers nation-wide.
My daughter went to Eliot 25 years ago..... Love the school.....and her grades were so good she went to Cascia. Please protect our heritage of a wonderful small neighborhood school that produces great students with their wonderful teachers and parent involvement!
Please don't increase class size number by closing down this class. I for one know my son benefits from the smaller classroom, and is a better student by more availability for one on one. Im afraid this will cause him to stuggle even more this 4th year.
Please don't let our children fall any further behind. Putting them in this situation is beyond unacceptable. Simply because TPS "over projected" and you are 3 students short?? I call that a loop hole excuse for selling your state and your students short again. Figure it out.
My mom applied for me to be transferred to Eliot as it is an outstanding school. I was in the class of 1982. Loved my teachers that spent extra time with students so that they could help spark the thirst for knowledge. Some of my best memories are from grade school. I still remember each teachers' name and cherish my 6th grade class shirt. All of these children are precious. Please share this with everyone you can!! I will!

I have taught and coached for 41 years. This would be a stretch for classroom management in PE. It is assinine to even begin to think of assigning 30 plus students to one academic classroom. Keep your numbers low to assure a quality education for these students.
