The Bishop has officially approved the elevation of Father Bishoy to the rank of Hegumen. We have finalized the scheduling for the upcoming liturgy where he will receive this honor. Thank you to the 501 individuals who provided the formal support necessary to reach this outcome.

Father Bishoy Tanous has been serving St. Mary and St. Bishoy church for many years. He is a loving, caring, and passionate priest. Since his ordination as a priest 12 years ago, Father Bishoy worked very hard to serve the congregation and to establish a well situated building in the heart of the Linden area in New Jersey. He managed to buy a car dealership and converted it to a church with basically nothing financially. Father Bishoy deserves to be elevated to the next priesthood rank.

The response to this initiative has reached a level that necessitates formal review by the diocese. I am currently drafting a letter to the Bishop to present this evidence of community support for Father Bishoy's elevation. I will provide an update once a follow up meeting is confirmed.

I know father Bishoy for over 30 years. He is caring giving farther. True father to all the congestion. When I was in hospital far from him, he came to me, pray for me more than times. God bless his service

Abouna Bishoy always tells me "call me 24/7". He literally means it. I can always come and vent to him and he comforts me. I love him with all my heart.
Abona Bishoy was working hard even before we have have church he was praying with us we can’t deny that he built the church and we can’t deny his effort in every thing in the church and with everybody in the church and he still works visits the people , he the fastest helper for who ever need help God bless him
Few fathers have shown absolute devotion to the service as Father Bishoy. The trials and challenges he had to overcome to establish the Church of St. Bishoy is remarkable. He is a faithful father, teacher, and leader and the rank of hegumen is long overdue. Please elevate Father Bishoy as he is most worthy of this honor.

I’m sure he is great but becoming a hegumen shouldn’t be up to a vote. It is based on the need, when there are multiple priests, to oversee things from an administrative aspect. It’s just an organizational title.
