The administration confirmed that full access to UpToDate will be restored to all students immediately. We pushed for this standard and they finally agreed to provide the tools we need to succeed. Keep checking your accounts to ensure your login works and let me know if you run into any …
We, the undersigned, request that the Albert Einstein College of Medicine provide its students with access to the medical resource UpToDate.com. Much as basic science researchers read a review article to become acquainted with a new topic, UpToDate.com provides a similarly well-cited, thorough and logical take on current standards of care and knowledge across broad disciplines of medicine. As UpToDate.com is considered the gold standard for online medical references, and is the database used by our teaching hospitals, students need to be familiar with it and to be able to utilize this information at all stages of our training. This resource is critical for our ability to develop case presentations during the clinical years, and to prepare for case conferences and understand classroom concepts during first and second year. Please make this invaluable resource available again.
The momentum behind our request for UpToDate access shows the administration that this is a top priority for our training. Post this link to the student Facebook group and text three classmates to keep the pressure on.

How are we supposed to learn clinical medicine without the actual gold standard? Bring it back immediately.

Give us the tools we need to actually do our jobs in the clinics. Very frustrating that they took this away.

This is ridiculous. Every other school has it. We are paying enough tuition to have basic study tools.

Back when I was in my rotations we used this every single day. Students need this access.
