The University have recently decided to remove funding for a graphpad PRISM license for personal use by undergraduate students. This has removed an essential tool for Life Sciences Students, the main route for analysing data and producing accurate statistics, in particular these are invaluable to 3rd year projects. At $10,000 for 100 licensing codes the relative cost for bulk subscription is a drop in the water compared to the course fees of the student body. Please sign this petition to try and get the university to fund licenses for students to use PRISM on their own devices.
We have been trained in the use of prism since coming to university and it is what we are all comfortable using. We need to have access to it on our personal computers to ensure we can produce our best 3rd year projects, as a lot of the writing up will be over Easter when we are home! Having to be trained to use anything else, or being restricted to only being able to analyse data inside the university would seriously hinder me and all my peers.
