They actually said yes to the fencing and the council is finally putting it up at the playzone. I can hardly believe we got to this point because for a while there it felt like shouting into the void. Keep an eye on the park while they start the work …

There is no fencing around the new playzone in Egerton Park, Bexhill. This could lead to a number of problems.
1) Children could very easily wander off into the main park and due to the number of people visiting the park at the moment, it could be a long while before it was noticed.
2) A child could quite easily be snatched and removed very quickly as there is no fencing to slow anyone down. Again, it could also be a long period of time before it was noticed.
3) There are areas of water very close to the playpark. A child could go too close to the water and fall in.
4) Dogs are able to enter the playpark. A number have already been seen urinating in the playpark, so it is entirely plausible that they could defecate in the playpark area. There is also the risk of a dog attack.

Please sign this petition if you would like Rother District Council to install a fence that fully encloses the whole playzone.

I can see the count ticking up toward five hundred and it honestly blows my mind because safety for these kids is such a mess right now. If we can just keep the momentum going a little bit further then the council will definitely have to look at the water danger and the dogs running around unchecked. Please just tell whoever you can about this because the noise we make together really is the only thing that might actually get a fence built.

A hundred people have signed this now which honestly feels like a lot considering I just started this out of frustration while watching a dog run through the sandbox. It is wild seeing people agree that the current layout is a total safety nightmare because I spent half the morning worrying that I was just being paranoid about the open gaps near the water.

I just looked at the count and we are right on the edge of triple digits which is just wild because I remember when it was only five names. If you know someone who visits the park maybe just shoot them a quick text or a link because I really want to hit that hundred mark before I send this over to the council office. Honestly it feels like people are finally starting to see how dangerous it is for the kids with those dogs running around so let's keep that momentum going.

Dogs running around where kids play is just disgusting. Sort it out council.

Absolute madness planning this without a fence. My toddler is so fast he would be at the waters edge in seconds.

Hard to enjoy the park knowing my little one could wander off so easily. Needs to be enclosed properly.

Its common sense really. Why would they put a play area in next to water without any barrier? So worried about the dogs getting in there too.

Why is this even a question? Put the fence up now.
