In 2018 former liberal democrat councillor Mark McCormick was sentenced to 17 years in prison for raping a 16 year old girl and forcing younger boys to perform oral sex on him. Mr McCormick was first investigated by police in 2002.

He was elected to the Bursledon Parish Counci (in the borough of Eastleigh) l in 2011, their offices and the local library they ran were within a community centre.

During his time as a liberal democrat parish councillor for Bursledon in the Borough of Eastleigh and Chair of The Parish Council (along with Eastleigh Liberal Democrat leader Keith House and other Liberal Democrat Councillors) Mr McCormick was asked to provide a DBS check to satisfy the community centres insurance company.

He, along with all Liberal Democrats, refused stating they had no legal obligation. They were duly evicted from the building.

During his court case we heard that in 2014 he would have likely failed a DBS check because of the earlier police investigation.

Rather than provide DBS checks Keith House's Eastleigh Liberal Democrats spent thousands of pounds of PUBLIC MONEY to regain access to the building without Mr McCormick having to provide a DBS check.

We feel that Keith House's Eastleigh Liberal Democrats have shown such poor judgement in safeguarding our children that they are not fit for public office at any level and ask for them to publicly apologise for failing us and resign their seats at parish, borough and county levels with immediate effect.
