The Turner Construction Company is filing for a "Special Construction Noise Variance" from the City of Cambridge for the spring until April 31st, 2018. If passed this means they will be able to have construction outside of Eastgate from 7am until 8pm at night.
If you DO NOT want the city to give them permission to work between the hours of 6pm-8pm, please do sign this petition before the city votes on January 24th, 2018.

I have been reading the stories people are sharing here and the impact this construction has on our neighbors is truly heartbreaking. This has grown well beyond what I imagined at the kitchen table and I am just doing my best to make sure the right people hear these concerns.

I have lived in Eastgate almost 5 years. Since the construction started, I have developed some serious breathing allergies. I am currently under some medication to prevent the effects of the construction. We urge the city council to consider the well-being of our families. It is almost impossible for us to open our windows during business hours, not only because of the noise, but also because of the air pollution.
I've been a resident of Eastgate for nearly seven years, and served as an officer for two. As my apartment is on the west side of the building, I am all too familiar with the noise and disruption caused by this construction project, especially when work occurs outside of the normal hours—even work that is expected to be "nondisruptive" often results in noise and air pollution, and various special projects in and around the area often create additional noise late at night and very early in the morning. I would urge councilmembers to consider the physical and mental health of the residents of both Eastgate and 100 Memorial, and deny this permit.
Wadsworth St has been in construction for so long, which has severely affected our life quality. The noise is unbearable at this point. No extended permit should be granted.
Too much noise, my three kids are affected by this. We need to let them rest, so that I can also work in the evening. This is too disruptive to Eastgate Residences, 100 Memorial Residence and Gradhouse Residences.
This work site has gotten completely out of control. Beeping trucks at 430 am and construction surrounding the building 24/7 with no respite. Piercing noise can be heard nonstop throughout the day and night. The mental health of MIT students and their families is at stake.
6-8pm is too much... we need to rest. I don't think it is safe for the workers either - clearly a case of irresponsible management trying tricks to protect their asses.

We already have annoying noises from monday to saturday since we moved here. Expanding the work hours would significantly worsen my quality of life.
