I have lived in Eastgate almost 5 years. Since the construction started, I have developed some serious breathing allergies. I am currently under some medication to prevent the effects of the construction. We urge the city council to consider the well-being of our families. It is almost impossible for us to open our windows during business hours, not only because of the noise, but also because of the air pollution.

I've been a resident of Eastgate for nearly seven years, and served as an officer for two. As my apartment is on the west side of the building, I am all too familiar with the noise and disruption caused by this construction project, especially when work occurs outside of the normal hours—even work that is expected to be "nondisruptive" often results in noise and air pollution, and various special projects in and around the area often create additional noise late at night and very early in the morning.
I would urge councilmembers to consider the physical and mental health of the residents of both Eastgate and 100 Memorial, and deny this permit.

The noise pollution from the construction site of the Turner Construction Company is already very against the health, safety, and welfare of Eastgate residents, and granting the special noise variance is totally ridiculous. I am pretty sure that their excavation vacuum vehicle does already violate the Noise Control Ordinance of the city of Cambridge: 8.16.070 - Restrictions on noise emitted from construction sites. From my apartment unit, 3A, the noise level is over 80dB with the windows open when they run the vacuum vehicle. We have suffered enough from all these noises including chainsaw noises, truck-backing beeping noises, vacuum excavation vehicle noises and etc since last fall. Granting this special noise variance is ridiculous, and I even believe that the city of Cambridge should monitor the noise and air pollutions from this construction site more diligently during the weekdays.
