Currently Ireland has a Drugs & H.I.V. Helpline which provides a great service however it is limited and only runs primarily between the hours of 10am to 4 or 5pm Monday to Friday. The issue for many people is not a 9 to 5 issue and the idea of this poll is to see if there is a general concensus that families and those affected by substance misuse need and have the right to access information and support at anytime.
I have spent this week listening to families describe the isolation they feel when the clock strikes five and the support lines go dead. Your stories prove that addiction does not take a break overnight and the current gaps in our system are failing people when they are at their most vulnerable. I am working on getting these accounts in front of the people responsible for funding these services.

Seeing this grow makes me feel less alone in the middle of the night when the panic sets in. It proves that families all over the country are struggling in the dark outside of office hours and that we finally deserve a lifeline that stays open.

Addiction doesnt take a weekend off or wait until 10am. This is badly needed for families who are struggling in the middle of the night.

Too many people suffering in silence after hours. Really hope they open this up to 24/7.
