The city has officially confirmed that our festival will return to the streets this summer. This outcome reflects the commitment of everyone who signed to keep our tradition in the heart of downtown. We look forward to seeing the community fill these spaces once again.

Final supporters
The Johnson City Downtown Merchants Association needs your help. As many of you are aware The Blue Plum Festival has decided this year to move to Founders Park and pavilion. This decision, to move from the streets it has called home for the last 16 years, has left a void once filled by the festival and a tradition we have looked forward to, loved and frankly (for some down town businesses) depended on. The newly formed “Johnson City Downtown Merchants Association” has come together to fill that void. If you would like to see a local and free festival fill the streets of downtown Johnson City with local music, arts, crafts, family fun and a celebration of Johnson City and our Historical downtown (Hopefully in conjunction with the Blue Plum Organization) then sign below and then share with your friends. This festival will be the first weekend in June (3rd & 4th) in the original footprint at the heart of downtown. Please help by letting your opinion be heard.

The fact that the Blue Plum festival is moving is a clear sign the organizers are concerned more about money than bring to citizens together and supporting local merchants. I will gladly attend a different festival held downtown rather than go to the money grab known as Blue Plum.
Moving the Blue Plum Festival away from downtown is a terrible idea. Johnson City has come a long way in supporting its downtown and local business. Moving the most lucrative festival away from downtown completely undermines all the work that has been done.
I am on the board of several non-profit organizations who felt quite left out of the Blue Plum festival we love to participate in every year. Very much looking forward to joining forces with the Johnson City Downtown Merchants Association to keep up the good work, together.
My kids and I have often traveled from out of town for the Blue Plum Festival. Part of the energy of the festival were the merchants and shop keepers. It brought a sense of community to the event. I'm sad to see this change.
I think the decision to move the festival from the beautiful and "down home feeling" area of downtown JC is a huge mistake. Walking in the street, visiting with local merchants and enjoying the music (and dancing) in the street is the very essence of the festival.
This is a travesty changing the festival we all love. I personally WILL NEVER support the upcoming format of the Blue Plum festival and will do my best to make sure as many people as possible will not support it either

I have been an avid blue plum volunteer, and attendee for over 10 years- I want to see this come together, expanding the festival is fine but you cannot take it from the businesses that keep our downtown alive every other day of the year.
