Don't bully my breed!
This petition is to bring to legislation in Connecticut the ban on all dog breed specific housing regulations. While a homeowner or leasing agency is entitled to decide that they do not want any pet to occupy their property, our goal is to make it illegal for housing to be denied primarily based on dog breed. Dog owners may be required to have their dog tested prior to being accepted into a home or community, but this will ensure that dog parents will no longer be discriminated against based on the breed they choose to keep.
With the movement of this, we hope that all individuals, regardless of the breed of dog they choose, should they qualify for the property they are applying, will not be denied solely based on their dog of choice.

2) Decrease the number of animals in shelters looking for homes. Many breeds stay in shelters for years because potential adopters know they will have a hard time finding an apartment or home.

please do not discriminate against any breed of dog. They love and are as friendly and trained as the owner treats, loves and trains them. This has nothing to do with any particular breed of dog when they are not friendly but reflects on the owner who is irresponsible- in which case you may not want to rent out to them.
This ban on BSL needs to be applied to insurance companies as well as housing. BSL doesn't work well and results in individuals who must elect to give up their pets in order to obtain housing or insurance -- that shouldn't happen ever. It is well-known that no specific breed is inherently vicious; rather, lack of training or socialization can cause behavior issues in any breed.
End BSL. It doesn't work. No one should be judged by their race, why should dogs be judged by breed. It's proven that laws like this do not work and end up costing more than expected for no gain. No purpose. No solution to the real issues at end. You are fighting the wrong end of the leash with ideals and laws like this.
i have a german shepard and i have been turned away from numerous apartments because of my dog breed
20 years ago we were refused home owners insurance due to having two rottweilers.... They never bit any one, never hurt anyone, but because they were on the list, they were deemed bad... Two sweeter dogs you would never meet.

I this shouldn't have anything to do with pitbulls ..this breed is made to be bad and thats bull i own two pitbulls right now who will lay right next to a newborn child and never do nothing to them other then cuddle them .,over the last fourty yrs i've had six pits of my own and i rehome over fourty five pitbulls of all size and not one of them where mean and i got them from all area of the state its how they are treated.. So this should not have anything to do with what kinda dog you own,.

I believe that we should be able to have any type of pets and not have to worry about we can't take our dogs. Owner of two pitbulls boy and girl. They are so living and cherish the people that surround them because they get nothing but love.
