The Florida State Senate is set to consider SB 1276, an amendment to an existing bill that will allow local governments to implement and enforce breed-specific laws. Second Chance Rescue stands by the view that we should "punish the deed, not the breed," and that laws that ban entire breeds such as pit bulls and chows are unfair to responsible dog owners and their loving pets.

We would like to collect signatures, and show this petition to the Florida Senate Community Affairs Committee, in order to encourage them not to send this bill out of the committee.

You can learn more about this bill at second-chance-rescue.org/legislation.

Since I have now met many owned pit bulls personally, I have learned they are loving animals that have just gotten a bad reputation. No one nor nothing should be grouped that way, we are too sophisticated for that, aren't we.
