Don't Spot Rezone Oakwood Avenue Lots
We strongly encourage the City Council to formally adopt the Plan & Design Commission's 4 to 2 recommendation NOT to rezone 1554, 1564 and 1576 Oakwood Avenue from RM1 to higher density RM2.
There's nothing to support changing the zoning on these lots except greater profits for the developer. On the other hand, the neighborhood would welcome development built to RM1 standards, which offers Highland Park significant benefits and suits the surrounding scale, character and context. An RM1 development can also protect the Heritage Oak and preserve numerous trees on the site.
