I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum we are seeing right now. This response belongs entirely to all of you who saw the need for change and decided to act.

when the county raised real estate tax, we were told the tax revenue must be kept in balance. Because the county real estate assessment went down slightly, the tax was increased accordingly. So where does the "4-cent tax hike" come into play? Also, I feel the county should not work against our own advantage of having low tax, so that we can attract more people to move to Halifax County at a time when the county population is decreasing year by year.
why do all of these organizations ask for funding? go it alone or like all smal businesses go out of business like i had to! i believe it is good incentive to have lower taxes than neighboring counties! I also believe they want to tax land owners until they have to sell their land so outsiders can come in , buy it, and they have fresh tax payers DONT RAISE TAXES CUT THE WASTEFUL SPENDING!

Tighten your belts, and cut the fat, Public Servants! Believing that Halifax County Politicians will continue to ignore those that they are supposed to serve, I advocate a cleaning of our house and a removal of the depraved inter-breeding that is shamelessly destroying our Halifax County, bankrupting our community, and dishonoring our citizens . Register to vote and get to the Polls, good folks! Consider running for Office!

If county officials stopped wasting money on lost causes, such as the $700K to make water and sewer services to the fair grounds, and repeat "gifts" to lobbyists to stop uranium mining in the next county over, they might not need to keep raising taxes every time they turn around. Let's vote the big spenders out and solve the problem.
