WE THE PEOPLE demand that the Board of Aldermen and the New Haven City Administration FREEZE all administrative and non union salaries at current levels, including the Mayor and City Clerk salaries. Due to the precarious financial situation of the New Haven government, the last several years of TAX INCREASES, and the overall dismal economic outlook for the average taxpayer in New Haven. If and when the city administration can come back to the taxpayers with a real DECREASE IN TAXES, then the Board of Aldermen and the City Administration may consider a reasonable increase in wages for future years, not based on some retroactive formula or argument.
