The state decided against the cuts and our seniors will keep their funding. It has been a long and draining fight but I am relieved that we held them to account. Stay vigilant because we must ensure these protections remain in place.

Stop Illinois' Medicaid Cuts to Seniors -- Sign the petition today!
Medicaid providers, such as nursing homes and supportive living communities, are slated to take a 2.25% percent funding cut for the 2016 Illinois Fiscal Year. These cuts are devastating to our seniors around the state.
This isn't just about cutting funding to the state budget. These are real lives we're talking about, as elderly nursing home residents have paid taxes all their lives; worked to raise families; and have helped to build our state. And now the state wants to cut their funding by upwards of $50 MILLION!

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing the momentum grow gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward. It is heavy work to fight for these seniors while the state tries to look the other way. I am staying in this for the long haul because the people counting on us deserve nothing less.

The exhaustion is setting in but we have to keep pushing before we hit the first milestone. Getting these names together is an uphill battle against officials who would rather ignore us. Please keep sending this out so we have enough weight behind our demand.

Please do not cut Illinois Medicaid! As an employee of a great nursing home, we try to provide the best quality care and home life for our residents. This will be a huge hindrance to that goal. Our residents deserve better! Please reconsider!!
These kinds of cuts not only affect resident care, but also affects the unemployment. The State keeps making it more expensive to operate nursing homes but then cuts our funding or doesn't pay us for months at a time and yet wants businesses to create jobs.
The Bible says we are to take care of the poor. As a society, do we have not have a moral obligation to take care of those who are unable to do so for themselves? This is Illinois for crying out loud -- America's heartland -- what are we coming to?
Our 400 residents have intellectual disabilities and cannot work. They depend upon Medicaid benefits for their skilled nursing care, prescription medication, and in fact for all services they receive. Stop balancing the state budget on their backs!!
I work at a smaller LTC facility which is privately owned. We pride ourselves on the care we provide. Not sure how many more cuts, taxes & regulations we can withstand & still provide quality care. We love our residents. Don't make us compromise are care.
Please DO NOT cut Medicaid funding to nursing homes.
Help us provide quality of care by not cutting funding for Medicaid.

I think that the self interest of this act is quite frankly, appalling. The sick and elderly deserve the best attention, and just because they are a not a main demographic of voters does not rule them out from being taken care of with the highest standard.
