If Governor Jerry Brown and the California State Legislature does not rescind the 10% cuts in reimbursements to pharmacy and other health care professionals, i.e. medical doctors and dentists, Medi-Cal patients will be denied access to their health care because many health care professionals will no longer accept Medi-Cal. If these cuts go through on September 1, 2013, Idyllwild Pharmacy will be forced to stop serving our patients on Medi-Cal. Why this 10% cut is so threatening is that it comes on top of our total reimbursement. A prescription recently filled for a Medi-Cal patient cost $1304.98, Medi-Cal reimbursed $1340.26, showing a $35.28 profit. Come September, Medi-Cal will take another $134.02 cut from the pharmacy leaving me a gross loss of $98.75. No business can or should sustain these type losses. What is even more insidious is Medi-Cal will go back 2 years and recoup 10% of the total reimbursements, which can cause many bankruptcies. Let us tell Sacramento not to implement these cuts, otherwise Medi-Cal patients in Idyllwild will have to travel at least 25 miles off the mountain for their prescriptions.
I am honestly overwhelmed by the response to this issue. It is clear this is a concern for so many people and I am just happy to provide a place for us to gather our thoughts. You are the ones truly driving this forward.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. HOW ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO GET THEIR MEDS IF NOBODY TAKES THE INSURANCE.
