SturQuest Community Petition –
Derelict land adjacent to Old Market Hill, Sturminster Newton. We the undersigned
believe that the state of the derelict land adjacent to Old Market Hill,
Sturminster Newton, adversely affects the local amenity by reducing the value of
both housing and businesses in the centre of Sturminster Newton and deterring
visitors to the town.
We therefore demand that NDDC Planning Department takes immediate action
against the landowner using its powers under Section 215 of the Town and Country
Planning Act, to require them to tidy up the site.

been talking to a few local business owners who are just as frustrated as we are about the eyesore at old market hill. im currently pulling together all the feedback to send over to the planning office so they see how many people really care about this space.

we hit a really cool point with this today and its clear people are tired of seeing that land just sitting there. seeing this much momentum makes me feel way better about getting the council to finally pay attention.

This area is an absolute disgrace and should never have been left like it is, even if the developers where not ready to build on it for a while. It shpould at least have been grassed over and left tidy.
I live in Rivers Arms Close and am trying to sell my house.I have lived with this eye sore all the time I have been here and desperately need something to be done about it, for my own sake and for the impression it gives to visitors to the town
Pleaes, Please use this site for a small skate park for the youth, for a park full of green or SOMETHING that gives to the community...even extra parking would be better than what it is now. Thank You, JLC
Citizens have already tried to rehabilitate the site on their own, but were threatened by the landowner after making the attempt. Yet the landowner himself has done nothing.
This piece of land is an eyesore in what is otherwise a most attractive, much-loved and well-maintained historic market town. NCCD needs to address this landowner's low standard and obvious low regard for the community.
Stur deserves the final leg of regeneration to be sorted!
