The parole board finally denied Frederick Carter his release. Keeping a murderer like him behind bars is the only justice Lawrence Leon ever stood a chance of getting. We won this fight, but we will keep our eyes on the system to ensure he never walks free.

On April 17, 1996, Frederick Carter and his accomplice took the life of Lawrence Leon during the armed robbery of his Birmingham, Alabama restaurant. Carter, the one who shot and murdered Mr. Leon, already had a long criminal record. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, which allows him to be considered for parole. His accomplice was convicted of Capital Murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Mr. Leon, a life-long Birmingham resident and popular business man, was active in his community and church. He was a loving husband to Joann; father to Fran, Phil and Rosie; and devoted grandfather of six. Please help our family and friends voice the outrage against the consideration of parole for Frederick Carter, a menace to society, who committed this violent crime. Frederick Carter stole a man's life and he belongs in a cage for the rest of his own. We are nearly at one hundred names but that is nowhere near enough to stop this coward from getting out. Send this link to everyone you know right now and force them to look at the blood on his hands.

Mr. Leon lost many many years that he could have spent with his children and grandchildren. His murderer should not be allowed to walk free. Keep him where he belongs, in prison.
This man without any emotion just turned and shot a man while going out the door after a robbery! Still same instincts same killer.
Leave him in Prison. Stop releasing horrible people. You can release him once the deceased get to come back.
Please DENY parole to this violent criminal. When he took my Uncle’s life....he killed his elderly Mother because she grieved for her youngest son and 8 days later his older brother (my Daddy) passed away because of the way he lost his brother.....he should be charged with the murder of 3 people!!!
He shot my Uncle Lawrence in cold blood. We have suffered without our beloved family member for 22 years. Frederick Carter needs to be in a cage for the rest of his life.
